Twenty-nine Richland One Teachers Achieve National Board Certification, Renewal

December 17, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Twelve more Richland One teachers have earned the highest credential available in the teaching profession, while 17 other district teachers have renewed their National Board certification.

Of South Carolina’s 136 new National Board-certified teachers, Richland One tied with Lexington-Richland Five for having the third-highest number in the state this year.

Richland One now has 282 National Board-certified teachers. To be certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, teachers go through a rigorous two-part process that takes one to three years to complete. This process includes completing assessment center exercises based on content knowledge to prove that they have mastered the subjects they teach and that they know how to teach them.

The names of the teachers were released by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (CERRA). Richland One congratulates its 12 newest National Board-certified teachers.
